Biography

I am Evelyn, originally from Lima – Perú, already 19 years in the Netherlands. Gained experience in various directions such as Hospitality, Security and Tourism. But my interest in the care and medical direction / sector awoke when I worked at GGZin Geest in Amsterdam, the Schalkwijk Health Center in Haarlem and Jan van Goyen Kliniek Medisch Centrum as a desk / receptionist.

Then I thought I could get more out of myself to help patients not only as a hostess or receptionist, even if I had the medical knowledge, through the doctor’s assistant training. Then I could help people with better advice, with of course the medical knowledge.

I have been working in this practice as a trainee doctor’s assistant for three weeks, with great pleasure, where I feel free to be myself, where I have room for my learning process, a pleasant working atmosphere in all respects, so that in another one year and six months I can successfully graduate and continue to develop myself.

My hobbies are ; singing, dancing salsa, and keeping myself busy with my YouTube channel about (singing, dancing and makeup, fashion and healthy lifestyle).

In 2017 I started my career as a General Practitioner.

Before medical school, I studied psychology and completed a masters degree in clinical neuro-psychology. I have always been fascinated by the functioning of the brain, and that is why my first job after graduation was at the neurology department. This is where I quickly realised I was missing something important: really getting to know patients from all ages and helping them with a broad range of symptoms. At the end of medical school I decided that I wanted to become a General Practitioner. In addition to the broad scope of the profession of a GP, the diversity is what excites me. I like the “hands-on” aspects of the job (such as small surgical interventions and placing Intra-Utrine Devices) and in addition, my background as a psychologist helps my conversations with patients with mood- and anxiety disorders. During my pshychology internship (at a PG department) I have gained experience in working with elderly people and an additional internship at the paediatric department has taught me the ins and outs of paediatrics. I love working with children and always enjoy having them in my consultations. The birth of my son in the spring of 2019 has contributed even more to my love for kids and the understanding of their parents. Since 2012 I am living in Amsterdam and love the city. Outside of work I do a lot of sports and traveling (hency my medical consultations for travellers). After working as an interim GP in several practices from de Zaanstreek to Amsterdam Southeast, West and City Centre, I am working at the Olympiaplein practice for 3 fixed days, and I really love this place!

I have been working since June 2020 as a nurse practitioner within the Valeriusplein general practice.               

Before that I worked at several GP’s. In 2017 I graduated from a Master’s program as a nurse practitioner.                Before I started working as a nurse practitioner, I worked for a long time as an emergency nurse at Airport Medical Services, the First Aid Centre at Schiphol Airport. Furthermore I worked at the health centre of a reception centre for asylum seekers.

A nurse specialist offers nursing and medical care: it is authorized to independently diagnose the use of treatments and prescribe medication for common complaints.

Biography:

Once upon a time I studied hotelmanagement, but during this study I realized I would rather work in healthcare. So in 2014 I moved from Enkhuizen to Amsterdam and started working at Valeriusplein. I build up CVRM consultation (prevention for heart disease). And now I’m consulting on CVRM and Diabetes as practice nurse on Valeriusplein and Olympiaplein.

I also started doing the management at the practice.
